Department Activities

Naalum Oru Kathai

We believe that pupils’ vocabulary can be built through getting them to listen to stories.  Hence, our P1 & P2 pupils are encouraged to bring home a reading card daily to enjoy a meaningful reading session with their parents/guardians.  Through this activity, we hope to build a strong partnership with our parents/guardians in educating our pupils.

Karpanaiyil Thilaippom

Once a week, pupils will engage in a real playtime session which lasts for about half an hour.  Resources such as a doctor’s play set, a chef’s play set, a barber’s play set etc are given to pupils.  Pupils are grouped into small groups when they role play the different characters.  This activity provides an authentic and non-threatening environment, thus, encouraging our little ones to converse in Tamil comfortably and happily.

External / Internal Competitions

Both external and internal competitions are seen as good platforms for our pupils to become more confident users of the Tamil Language.  Hence, our pupils are strongly encouraged to take part in these competitions.  To ensure that every child gets an opportunity to take part in competitions, activities such as spelling bee contests, handwriting contests, singing and story-telling contests will be carried out annually.

Tamil Language Camp

This is a half-day camp which will be held after curriculum hours.  Through this annual camp, we hope to further instil in our pupils a love for the learning of the Tamil Language and Culture.  Pupils will get ample opportunity to use the language during the camp’s varied and fun-filled activities.

Enrichment Programmes

To enlighten our pupils on  Tamil Culture, the following activities will be conducted for our pupils:

  • Workshop on Kolam Drawing
  • Workshop on Garland Making
  • Workshop on Basic Drama Skills

Deepavali Celebration

An annual event during which our pupils showcase their talents to their fellow schoolmates.
